Christmas Pressies for a 50 Year Old

I’ve decided it’s time to have another go at whiskey. Tried it in my early 30’s and couldn’t get used to it, just tasted sour and harsh.

I could do with cutting down on the calories and sugar in wine so am having another go, hence getting a batch of whiskey miniatures to start doing some taste testing!

Also been given some whiskey rocks by some great friends so I can get the temperature right. Got to be snobbish about it, right?

Be a good wardrobe

Just got out of the car and told the wardrobe in the back to be good and that I will be back in 5 minutes.

The habits you get into when you have a dog…

New Kitchen Floor

Wor Lass has disliked the terracotta tiles since the day we moved in. She has now put her unicorn slippers down (as worn in the picture) and had a new floor laid. Looks great but the tradies managed to fill the house with fine dust, and cut through the lights so not impressed.

Now The Duchess will be spending 2 hours a day sweeping up every dust particle that dare settle on her new floor. Really, I shit you not.

Where the Hell did December Go?

Blimey Charlie, this month is flying past! With eight more work days left to the Christmas shutdown (14 days off, including paid leave, woohoo!) we’ve been head down trying to get finished with a glut of expensive tasks :-

  • Getting the garden cut back (got a gardener, dontcha know what what what)
  • Waiting for dental surgery (The Duchess chipped a tooth and has been eating gingerly for a week)
  • Having new kitchen & hallway floors laid (messy, dust everywhere, broken lights to repair)
  • Dealing with flooding in The Duchess’ en suite (The Duchess in her element corralling tradies to get vanity and gib removed and discover source of leak) – likely to turn into a refurb of the room.
  • Christmas shopping (I’ve bought a box of After Eights, so that’s the food sorted)
  • Spending Airpoints at Mitre 10 to get our Christmas and New Year projects ready to go – garage storage shelving and 50 litres of fence paint (with 2 brushes).

Through this I’ve also been getting my blood sugar levels monitored, which are thankfully looking healthy, so following up with a more detailed consult to check all is well.

At least this year I’ve not been grinding my teeth every time Maria Carey gets piped over the supermarket tannoy; with somewhere to go for Christmas Dinner (thanks Chris & Holly!) it should be a less Grinchy Christmas this year…
